About us
Prazon opened the doors to dance training in October 2000, at Jump Street Arts Building made possible in part from a grant from Jump Street and PA Partners of the Arts. The mission of Prazon is to offer quality dance training to the community and creating well-trained and technically disciplined dancers. It is a viable component of Prazon to assert accountable in “Dancing to A Higher Call”. Prazon continues with its mission to achieve more community awareness and involvement.
The performing ensemble of Prazon performs throughout the year in addition to the focal point of the student recital at the State Museum in May. Some past engagements have included; ABW Productions, Cornish and Associates Urban Connection, Giant Food Corporation, The PA State Utilities Commissioners, The PA Treasurers Department, Writer’s Workshop, YMCA’s Black Achievers, in 2004 were featured performers, in tap, for the Mayor’s City of Harrisburg Black History Showcase, dancer’s showcase Strawberry Square, Pecan, Inc.’s Celebration of Children at the Forum and the American Music Festival.
Founder and Director Anita Tyler-Goodrich began formal training with the Philadelphia Dance Company, later becoming a company member and then soloist with Philadanco. Dance training also included Joffrey Ballet, Dance Theatre of Harlem and master teachers from Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre. Ms. Goodrich is the director for the youth dance ministry at Greater Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
